| Keep it simple. If they arent roaming the streets they arent causing trouble.

You know, the thing is, if I was a hip-hopper, I'd be really pissed off at the 557 idiots who ruin for the rest of us. I mean, enjoy your music, no matter if it is polka, C&W, or hip-hop, but don't be an asshole about it. Sure, hip-hop (or rap) used to be the music of the revolution, and that was a different thing because it stood for something. But now it is just fluff, like any commercialized music. So, come, be welcome, listen to all the hip-hop you want, but don't bust the place up. I mean, is that too much to ask? I know there are more behaved hip-hop fans than non-behaved, but the percentage is not high enough yet. If the hip-hop community would just apply some peer pressure to the idiots, they could come to South Beach all they wanted and party all they wanted, and we would welcome them.
I read that there were 117 arrests during the 2006 Winter Music Conference at Ultra alone, and they confiscated a whole bunch of drugs... At any given time, the hammer can descend, and it does not have to be hip hop for it to happen. I see people walking down Ocean Drive with open drinks all the time, coming straight from Wet Willies sippin on a Taxicab... But this past weekend, that same activity would have resulted in an arrest. Don't believe me, watch what happens after MDW is over... You'll see people go right back to walking down the street with their drinks, and they will not get arrested.
If *all* that they were doing was walking down the street quietly drinking their drink, I guarantee you that none of this would have ever come up. Unfortunately, there are a few in the crowd that cause a lot of trouble and this fucks it up for everybody. When so many people are here, the police do not have the kind of time or manpower it would take to really discern between the "good" lawbreakers (walking down the street with a drink in hand minding their own business) and the "bad" lawbreakers (same but causing public nuisances). Remember, that when the first Hip-Hop weekend happened, there was not this huge police presence. The police state has been instituted in response the to irresponisibility of some of the attendees. Had ALL the hip-hoppers been well-behaved from the get-go, then none of this would be necessary.

| Damn right. These animals get arrested because they are unable to conduct themselves in a normal manner. I say animals because South beach is literally like Metro Zoo for MDW. Jumping around like a bunch of apes. They constanly need a cop up their asses to tell them to behave. If they didn't do anything stupid they would not get arrested. So Sela V's example about paying to go to the movies and getting arrested for looking at the screen is a poor one, not to mention an irrelevant one. You don't get arrested for merely taking a plane and "being on south beach" as an innocent bystander. You get arrested for taking a plane to south beach and acting like a jackass. Ladies and Gents, wake up and smell the coffee, please stop trying to defend a group of idiots that do not know how to behave.
